Google Earth Engine
We developed the Google Earth Engine platform to enable global-scale monitoring and measurement of changes in the earth’s environment. Earth Engine makes an unprecedented catalog of imagery and data available online in one place, for researchers and scientists to use. By using Google’s computing infrastructure to run analyses across thousands of computers, we've cut the time to analyze data, making unthinkable tasks possible for the first time. In particular, we’re working with scientists and researchers to use Earth Engine to support the development of systems to monitor, report and verify efforts to stop deforestation, which accounts for 12-17% of annual global greenhouse gas emissions.
Google PowerMeter
We believe consumers should have access to detailed and actionable information about their home energy use throughout the day—to help them save money and make smart energy decisions. Studies show that access to energy information helps people reduce their energy use by up to 15%. That's why we've developed Google PowerMeter, a free energy monitoring tool that allows you to view your home's energy consumption online, and support the range of technology, tools, and policies that foster an open ecosystem for energy information.
Google for Nonprofits
Google supports non-profit organizations dedicated to preserving the environment by providing free tools to raise awareness, reach and engage supporters, and improve operations. Google Earth Outreach gives nonprofits and public benefit organizations like Defenders of Wildlife the knowledge and resources they need to visualize their causes and tell their stories in Google Earth and Maps.
