Andriy Shevchenko, the recipient of the 2004 Ballon d'Or and former player for AC Milan and Chelsea, is poised to assume the role of the new president of the Ukrainian Football Association.

The legendary ex-forward stands as the sole candidate for this position, as conveyed by the official website of the organization. The imminent congress of the Ukrainian Football Association is scheduled for January 25. It is during this event that Shevchenko is anticipated to be elected president.

Previously, this position was held by the UEFA Vice President Andriy Pavelko, who is currently in custody due to allegations of corruption.

From 2016 to 2021, Andriy Shevchenko served as the head coach of the Ukrainian national team, leading them to the quarterfinals of the UEFA Euro 2020. Subsequently, he pursued coaching endeavors with Genoa, albeit without success.
