赤楠屬常綠灌木或小喬木，原產中國華中、華南各省、越南、日本琉球與臺灣。對生倒卵形至橢圓形葉片，葉面光亮，新葉黃、紅或紫色。枝端伸出聚繖花序。球形漿果，成熟時紫黑色。開花期夏季，結果期冬季。

An evergreen shrub or small tree in the genus Syzygium, native to Central China, South China, Vietnam, Ryukyu, and Taiwan. Leaves opposite, obovate to elliptic, glossy; new leaves yellow, red or purple. Cymes extending from the branch tips. Berries spherical, purple-black when ripe. Flowering in summer and fruiting in winter.

全日照溫暖至炎熱環境。具有耐旱性，根系忌積水。介質使用排水良好的砂質壤土為宜。萌芽力強，耐修剪，可隨時修剪整型，冬季可進行較大幅度的修剪以促進春季萌發新葉更加美觀。繁殖使用播種與扦插法。

The plant grows in a warm to hot environment with full sun; drought-tolerant. Avoid waterlogging in the root; sandy loam with good drainage preferred.
