The "White House" of Taiwan! There are two lines - one for groups (and you have to make reservations ahead of time) and one for those who just show up.
What's nice is they have tours in different languages (English, Chinese, Japanese) - and all of these tour guides are volunteers! You can't see the actual office of the president, but we were able to walk through all of the exhibits which were nicely put together.
Great little spot if you need to spend some time not eating in Taipei!Helpful 3Thanks 0Love this 5Oh no 0 - 4802194513841Mar 31, 2015
It is like going to see "White House" in Washington D.C. Excited to see the office of the President!!
They don't offer "tour" inside the office. So only can walk around the building. There are security surrounded the building. They don't wear military uniform, just casual uniform.Helpful 5Thanks 0Love this 4Oh no 0 - Dec 16, 2016
MAKE RESERVATIONS AHEAD OF TIME!!
You need to make reservations if you want to get in on a non-open house date. on the day of your reservation, COME EARLY! Our reservations were at 9am and we arrived at 8:50am. We didn't get in until ~9:45am. Even if you have a reservation, you still wait in a super long line. There's a bag check, passport check, and a metal detector. If you bring any drinks, you have to drink it in front of them to prove it's safe.
The Presidential Office Building is fun to tour. There are a lot of art exhibits to look at and my favorite part was the food projections of the popular Taiwan snacks. I took a picture of each one when the English version came up so I could be sure to find and each each and every one!! At the very end, there's a place that you can take a fun picture, pick where you are from, and then the picture will pop up on a world map. Neat!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Jon L.Bellevue, WA878220233757Apr 1, 2015
(Disclaimer: Review based on visit to Taipei in November 2013.)
This is the White House of Taiwan. Except it is not all white and there are palm trees fronting it. No, I did not enter. Though you can on a full open house date to visit. The Presidential Palace is within walking distance of the Chiang Kai-shek Memorial Hall and National Theater in Taipei.
Across the street from the Presidential Palace, there is a parking lot for you to take pictures with the palace in the background. Which is pretty much the equivalent of taking a photo outside the White House to say that you saw it. But probably not worth the effort of actually touring the facility when there are nicer attractions nearby.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0
