Rapper and reality-TV star Flavor Flav will be opening in Clinton, Iowa, the first in a planned chain of fast-food fried chicken restaurants.
The restaurant is scheduled to open Monday afternoon at
916 N. 2nd St., according to Nick Cimino of Rock Falls, Ill., who is working with the rapper.
“He’s here. I can tell you that he’s here,” Cimino said Friday morning, deferring answers to other questions to the rapper.
On Jan. 16, Cimino’s Facebook status read: “me and my boy flav opening up on the 24th make sure you come try our chicken.”
Facebook and Twitter posts, apparently not from Cimino, show a marquee declaring “FLAVOR FLAVS CHICKEN COMING SOON!” which were identified as having been taken in Clinton.
In November, the 51-year-old rapper announced he was opening a line of flavored vodkas to include bubblegum and sweet tea as well as a fried chicken operation.

Born William Drayton Jr., Flavor Flav rose to fame in the late 1980s with the pioneering rap group Public Enemy, which recorded three platinum and two gold albums. The group recently toured Australia and New Zealand.
During a hiatus from the group, he taped the VH1 cable TV series “The Surreal Life,” which spun off into “Crazy Love,” with Flav and actress Brigette Nielsen.
That was followed by three seasons of the dating show “Flavor of Love,” also on VH1, where contestants vied for the romantic affections of the rapper known for wearing large clocks around his neck and for often sporting a Viking helmet complete with horns.
