Marcel Wanders is a product and interior designer who has received international recognition for his knotted chair produced by Droog Design in 1996. His work is omnipresent. Designs for international companies such as Flos, Alessi, Puma, KLM Royal Dutch Airlines, Mac Cosmetics, Cappellini, B & B Italia, Moroso and Target. Wanders also designs architectural projects, such as the Grand Hotel Kameha in Bonn, the Mondrian South Beach hotel in Miami and the Villa Moda store in Bahrain. Marcel Wanders brings humanity back to the technocratic world of design, inaugurating what he calls “the contemporary Renaissance of humanism”. Create a reality in which designers, craftsmen and users feel welcomed and embraced. With each new project, Marcel Wanders escapes the dogma of design, preferring instead to focus on holistic, romantic, surreal, archetypal, rather than technocratic aspects. In this universe, the coldness of industrialism is replaced instead by poetry, fantasy and romanticism of different eras, vividly brought to light in the contemporary moment.

In 2001, Marcel Wanders co-founded the successful design brand MOOOI, in which he has a triple role; acts as owner, art director and product designer for the company. As owner of MOOOI, Marcel Wanders finds a way to create a romantic and non-dogmatic humanistic universe, to cultivate designers and their work, and at the same time be an unstoppable force in the war against design fundamentalism.

As artistic director, Marcel Wanders has shaped the company’s vision and has a continuous impact on today’s design culture. Marcel Wanders oversees the complete portfolio of design projects, communication design, retail and brand exhibitions, including the annual presentation of the Salone del Mobile in Milan.
