Michael Fassbender

Michael Fassbender (born April 2, 1977) is an Irish actor who has been nominated for multiple Academy Awards and is known for playing the supervillain Magneto in Fox's "X-Men" movies, Apple co-founder Steve Jobs in Universal's biographical drama and more. Fassbender's first onscreen role was in HBO's hit series "Band of Brothers" as Technical Sergeant Burton Christenson in 2001. His first film role came in Zack Snyder's action epic "300" in 2007 as the buff Spartan soldier Stelios, and his next major character was Lieutenant Archie Hicox in Quentin Tarantino's "Inglourious Basterds" in 2007. In the 2010s, Fassbender's career took off. He starred as Eric Lehnsherr, aka the comic book villain Magneto, in "X-Men: First Class" (2011), "X-Men: Days of Future Past" (2014), "X-Men: Apocalypse" (2016) and "X-Men: Dark Phoenix" (2019). He played the younger version of Ian McKellen's character in Fox's earlier "X-Men" trilogy. Also in 2011, Fassbender starred in "Jane Eyre," "A Dangerous Method," "Haywire" and earned a Golden Globe nomination for "Shame." In 2014, he got his first Oscar nomination for "12 Years a Slave" for supporting actor, and in 2016 he earned a nod for best actor in "Steve Jobs." Fassbender had the titular role in "Macbeth" (2015), played the android David in the "Alien" prequel "Prometheus" (2011) and "Alien: Covenant" (2017) and starred in the video game adaptation "Assassin's Creed" (2016). After 2019, Fassbender took a break and did not have another film role until 2023 when he starred in David Fincher's "The Killer" and Taika Waititi's "Next Goal Wins."
