Marcel Wanders' Solo Show in Amsterdam Proves There's Nothing He Can't and Won't Design

Marcel Wanders reveals his beautiful and dramatic design work in an Amsterdam museum—his largest solo show to date.

You may have been in one of his fantastical hotel lobbies (like the Mondrian South Beach, above) without knowing his name. But now Dutch designer Marcel Wanders, who’s created everything from cutlery to credenzas, gets his due in “Marcel Wanders: Pinned Up at the Stedelijk.” The survey is the first major design show at Amsterdam’s Stedelijk museum since its 2012 reopening and the designer’s largest solo show to date: 400 items spanning his 30-year career (Museumplein 10; 31-20-5732-911; through June 15).
