TAIPEI, March 8 — Fans of SHE singer Selina Jen were concerned when she announced her divorce from her husband of four years, Richard Chang, on Friday, in a Facebook post.

Yesterday, the 34-year-old singer updated her fans with another post on the social networking site, assuring them that she was happy.

She also praised “the magic of running” for allowing her to deal with her marital woes.

A report by Singapore’s Straits Times quoted Jen as describing how she went for her first jog in a long time.

Although breathless, she kept running, till she jogged up a bridge and “felt a burst of heat rushing out of my chest”.

Her stress and emotion seemed to be released, like stomach gas being let out in a loud belch, she wrote.

She added that the world suddenly looked brighter.

“Although I was running more and more slowly, and sweating more and more, my heart was more and more relaxed,” she continued. “This is the fascinating magic of running.”

She also thanked her family, her bandmates Hebe Tien and Ella Chen, and her soon-to-be ex-husband for their support.

“On the way home, my heart was full of gratitude. All the way, when I experienced different scenery in my life, my family, Hebe, Ella, my friends and Richard never let me face it alone.”

She concluded: “I am a very lucky person. I will wear my battle dress and keep on running!”

Last Friday, the couple confirmed their shock, but apparently amicable split.

Jen wrote that they were “really unhappy as man and wife,” while Chang said they realised that they were better off as siblings because they had so little in common.

He wrote, “She likes to watch variety shows and dramas. I am locked into news and sports channels. Slowly, we became parallel lines.

“In this broken marriage, I lost a wife but gained a sister who is closer to me than my own sister.

“Please don’t feel sorry for us. We are happier being siblings.”

Chang has long been seen as Jen’s pillar of support, particularly after a near-death experience for the singer/actress.

In October 2010, while filming the television drama I Have A Date With Spring, she was badly hurt in an accident involving explosives which left her with burns to around 50 per cent of her body.

However, despite reports that they were trying for a baby last year, rumours started to circulate that their marriage was in trouble after Chang was spotted in a karaoke with another woman.
