Alexa Grasso (16-3-0) is ready to defend her flyweight title belt on Saturday night at T-Mobile Arena against the fighter she beat six months ago to become champion, Valentina Shevchenko (23-4-0). The main card is scheduled to start at 07:00 p.m. PT.

Both fighters weighed in at 124.5 pounds on Friday night. Their rematch could become a trilogy if Shevchenko comes out on top, but Grasso will look to repeat her past performance.

Alexa Grasso retains flyweight title

After five rounds, the judges score the contest 48-47 for Grasso, 48-47 for Shevchenko and 47-47 for a split draw, enough for Grasso to retain the flyweight title in the rematch against Shevchenko.

ROUND 5

Grasso wins Round 5

Both fighters trading blows to start the final round. Grasso is stalking Shevchenko and keeping her going backwards, but has yet to land anything powerful. Shevchenko is not too active in the fifth round. Grasso gains ground control and is punishing Shevchenko with countless blows. Shevchenko saved by the bell.

ROUND 4

Round 4 could go either way

Grasso is looking for the knockout blow and Shevchenko continues to attempt takedowns. Shevchenko is now the one in trouble in the ground, but both fighters quickly return to their feet. Grasso is bleeding badly from her eyebrow and again finishes the round on her back.

ROUND 3

Shevchenko wins Round 3

Both fighters continue to size each other up in the third round. Shevchenko again takes Grasso to her back. Grasso tries to get up, but Shevchenko manages to halfway get her in a guillotine. Shevchenko can't pull off the guillotine, but continues to look for a submission. The champion continues to withstand Shevchenko's ground control by landing soft punches until the bell saved her.

ROUND 2

Grasso wins Round 2


Grasso starts the second round as the aggressor and Shevchenko continues to look for the takedown. The champion drops Shevchenko with a right fist and delivers a few powerful uppercuts. Shevchenko escapes and manages to take Grasso back to the ground. Grasso remains calm with her back on the canvas as Shevchenko fails to capitalize. Shevchenko gets back up on her feet and trades kick with Grasso still on the ground. The challenger ends the round on top of Grasso, but the knockdown might have lost her the round.

ROUND 1

Shevchenko wins Round 1

Shevchenko starts with a couple early kicks and looking for gaps with her jab. Grasso looks timid as the challenger sets the pace. Shevchenko attemps a takedown, but the champion defends it perfectly. Grasso unable to defend the second takedown and Shevchenko has ground control. The Mexican fighter gets back up, but ends the opening frame up against the cage.
