This is a hat with some lacework construction.

This hat is knitted in the round with the smaller set of needles for the ribbing edge. Needles are changed to larger set for the lacework pattern and body. You will need a set of double pointed size 5 needles for casting off.
One skein of DK weight was used for the S size of the pattern. More yarn may be needed if you make a larger size or knit at a larger gauge
