Fresh off the release of Speak Now (Taylor’s Version), Taylor Swift dropped the music video to the vault track “I Can See You” — and to all Swifties’ surprise, the five-minute clip featured one very famous ex: Taylor Lautner.

Of course, Swift did us one better during her July 7 Eras show in Kansas City, when she invited Lautner on-stage to unveil the “I Can See You” music video with her. As the crowd erupted in cheers, Lautner cartwheeled and back-flipped (a nod to their scene in 2010’s Valentine’s Day) and wrapped Swift in a big hug.

Swift and Lautner dated for a few months in 2009, around the time that she penned the Speak Now album. Before welcoming the Twilight star on Friday, the Grammy Award-winner shared how much of a “positive force” he was back then: “He and his wife have become some of my closest friends, and it’s very convenient because we all share the same first name,” she added, per People. (Lautner married Taylor Dome in November 2022).

Once Lautner arrived on-stage, Swift handed him the microphone and he proved, once again, to be one of the sweetest humans ever. “I respect you so much, not for the singer you are, the songwriter, the performer, but truly for the human you are,” he said of Swift, as he thanked her for including him in the project. “You are gracious, humble, kind, and I’m honored to know you.” 😭

The heist-themed “I Can See You” music video, which also stars actresses Joey King and Presley Cash, was written and directed by Swift — and, she assures us, Lautner did all his own stunts. “WELL. SO. I’ve been counting down for months and finally the ‘I Can See You’ video is out. I wrote this video treatment over a year ago and really wanted to play out symbolically how it’s felt for me to have the fans helping me reclaim my music,” Taylor captioned a carousel of on-set photos on Instagram.

“Taytay is INCREDIBLE in this (didn’t have a stunt double!) and shout out to @taylautner for being so awesome to hang with on set. The Tale of 3 Taylors 😆,” she continued.

Speaking of three Taylors, Lautner posted this iconic photo from set, and tbh, we’ve never seen a meme recreation executed so flawlessly.

No notes, this is incredible. Check out the full “I Can See You” music video below.
