FIFA Club World Cup Prize Money: How Much Can Manchester City Make In Saudi Arabia?

Manchester City will soon jet off to Saudi Arabia to play in the 2023 FIFA Club World Cup.

City will be one of seven teams competing for global glory in the tournament.

However, as UEFA Champions League winners, City have been given a bye straight to the semi-final stage.

Therefore, Pep Guardiola's side need only to win two games to officially become world champions.

Manchester City are one of seven clubs in contention to win the 2023 FIFA Club World Cup

City will face either Japan's Urawa Red Diamonds or Leon of Mexico in the semis.

Should City perform as expected and reach the final then they will likely be up against Brazilian club Fluminense or home team Al-Ittihad - barring a miracle run by New Zealand's Auckland City.

If they win both matches - which will be held at King Abdullah Sports City in Jeddah - then City will receive a big chunk of prize money in addition to a shiny trophy.

A total of $16 million will be shared between the seven clubs involved in this year's FIFA Club World Cup.

Naturally, it will not be split evenly.

The champions will earn $5m, while the losing finalists will leave with $4m.

Third place is worth $2.5m, which is $500,000 more than the prize for coming fourth.

As Man City will not enter until the semi-finals, it is impossible for them to finish lower than fourth. Therefore, City are guaranteed at least $2m.

But the loser of the opening game between Al-Ittihad and Auckland City will receive just $500,000, while the two teams finishing joint fifth will each walk away with $1m.
