On his Champions League final emotions: ‘Were my tears a goodbye? No’

Andrea Pirlo has dismissed speculation that he will leave Juventus this summer amid reports linking him with a move to the US to play in MLS.

The Italy international, who cried after his team’s Champions League final defeat to Barcelona on Saturday, told Sky Sport Italia: “Were my tears a goodbye to Juventus? No, they were for the defeat. It is the kind of opportunity that I will rarely get again.”

The 36-year-old midfielder made 32 starts for Juventus in all competitions this season, one in which the Bianconeri won the double of Serie A and Coppa Italia for the first time since 1995. He remains under contract with the club for another season.
