The invention relates to a method for recording a program, in particular a radio or television program, the content of the program currently being received and presented being permanently written into a readable short-term memory and the content of the short-term memory being overwritten as soon as its capacity is exhausted. The invention also relates to a receiving device, for example a radio and / or television receiving device, in particular for carrying out the method, with such a rolling short-term memory.
Such "rolling" short-term memories are known in radio devices, for example from DE 4004 202 A1. These record a program or the last part of a program broadcast in the manner of a voice recorder so that the listener does not find a part that is particularly interesting to him The disadvantage of the method shown there is first of all that the duration of the programs, which could be recorded with the memories available at that time, was quite short with poor quality and was not sufficient for a complete contribution can be partially solved with the existing storage today, but there is the problem that the short-term storage is volatile and indeed is only suitable for repeating a currently heard contribution. Such devices thus offer an improved possibility of obtaining current information, but they are not suitable for recording a partially missed or unregistered contribution for the purpose of listening to it again later.
The object of the invention is therefore to provide a method which can be implemented with simple and inexpensive means and which offers the possibility of selectively preserving, at least in part, past articles of a program for later listening or viewing. It is also an object of the invention to provide a device for implementing the method.
These tasks are solved by the method according to claim 1 and the device according to claim 9.
The essential basic idea of the invention is to create the possibility of simply transferring the part of the program recorded in the short-term memory at the instigation of the user, that is to say the viewer or the listener, over a data line into a long-term memory provided. With the possibility of being able to carry out this method according to the invention, the performance of the receiving device and thus its attractiveness for the user is considerably increased. In this way, the user has the option of preserving the last post at any time during a broadcast. The advantage of the method according to the invention is obvious. This way, interesting articles can be recorded as parts of a program with little effort. The method according to the invention is particularly inexpensive and reliable.
At this point, the function of the rolling short-term memory is explained: This memory is written on a rolling basis, i.e. in cycles with a certain return, the writing process advantageously being started automatically when the device is switched on. The content of the memory thus represents the chronological course of a contribution with a beginning and an end, the memory content being overwritten in particular from the beginning as soon as the capacity of the memory is exhausted. The function of such a rolling storage device can be illustrated most simply by means of the image of a continuously rotating (rolling) roller, the surface of which is rewritten after a complete revolution. The memory thus contains the part of the temporary program that can be saved in one revolution. It should be emphasized at this point that the rolling function does not have to be implemented by actually rotating a memory, but can also be carried out electronically.
In order to give the user the option of compiling the articles on the long-term storage according to his wishes, it is particularly easy to implement if the reason for the transmission is a trigger command, for example a key press or a voice command, which is actively given by the user must become. Recording is started, whereby the part of the current contribution that has been missed so far and which is stored in the short-term memory is transferred to the long-term memory. Since the rolling function of the short-term memory has thus made its contribution to the recording, it is advantageous in the event of further recording to bypass the short-term memory and to write the remaining contribution following the trigger command directly into the long-term memory. In order to then complete the contribution, the memory content of the short-term storage is prepended to the remaining contribution in the long-term storage.
It is also preferable if the individual articles can be clearly separated from one another in the course of the subsequent technical processing. To this end, the transmitter advantageously provides a program that can be divided into individual successive articles with standardized signals, these signals being transmitted between the articles. The signals then mark the interruptions so that the change of contributions is automatically recognizable. The type of signals can be varied, although it is preferable if they are not perceived by the user. So it is possible to use sound signals in an imperceptible frequency or length. Also transmission pauses of defined length or acoustic Electronic watermarks of the known type can be used as signals. In television broadcasts, optical signs can be used at a defined position on a picture or optical electronic watermarks. These signals can be used to organize the recording automatically. In order to support such an automatic organization, it is advantageous to code additional information relevant to the recording, for example the duration of the following contribution, within the signals.
Once received by the receiving device, signals can, if necessary, be translated into digital information by a converter based on translation instructions before they are written as additional information (“header”) of the contributions into the short-term memory and from there into the long-term memory. The header is used in particular to identify the Contributions to long-term storage and the organization of the available storage space.
Interchangeable recordable CD's or DVD 's of the known type offer themselves as long-term storage, it being advantageous for later playback on any other device to store the contributions in a format that is standardized according to the medium. It is also conceivable to design the long-term memory as a writable solid-state memory in the form of a memory card in such a way that it can be detachably inserted into a corresponding slot in the receiving device. Such a memory card can also be exchanged and transferred at will.
The method can be implemented with a receiving device, in particular a radio and / or television receiving device, for the presentation of currently received programs. A PC can also be used as the receiving device, which receives current information via the Internet, which is lost at least for the user with the one-time broadcast. According to the invention, the receiving device has a device for recording at least a part of a currently received program, the device having a short-term memory that can be repeatedly written (rolling), as described above. A time segment of the program just past is recorded on this, the short-term memory being overwritten in cycles with a certain return. According to the invention, the device has a long-term memory to which the content of the short-term memory can be transferred. As already stated, it is advantageous if the long-term memory has a writable mass memory in the form of an exchangeable medium, in particular a magnetic tape, a floppy disk, a CD or a DVD. The rolling short-term memory can be a solid-state memory in the form of a writable RAM, which has a capacity of in particular less than one megabyte. The recorded cycles of the contribution thus have a duration of a few minutes. With this duration, a meaningful use of the invention is guaranteed. The long-term memory can also be designed as a non-volatile semiconductor memory, for example as a “flash memory”, as is customary in mobile audio and video devices.
,. In order to be able to store longer contributions with a given storage capacity, it is advantageous to compress the data before storing, in particular with the MP3 or the MPEG format. The compression, which is carried out by a corresponding module in the device, also contributes to the fact that the transfer of data from one medium to the other takes place much faster. .
